Attractions in this site include salmon spawning in the Quinsam, salmon hatchery during autumn months, and magnificent forest trails. In the entire of Vancouver Island, the Elf Falls is one of the most popular when it comes to provincial parks. This 1,087-hectare camping site is great to visit between the months of November and March. Its huge campgrounds provide a convenient base camp for day tripping.
A camping site near the communities of Campbell River that is filled with rugged wilderness is the Strathcona Provincial Park. It was designated as a provincial park in 1911 with more than 250,000 hectares of land size. Dominating the park are mountain peaks that are perpetually mantled with snow. Alpine tarns and alpine tarns are landscaped with streams, creeks, and rivers. The site has two areas that offer various tourist-oriented developments. These areas are the Forbidden Plateau and the vicinity of Buttle Lake. Some areas in the camping site are still undeveloped yet very appealing for campers who seek exploration and wilderness surroundings.
